This extensive work contains no fewer than around one hundred and fifty instruments, either on human rights or relevant to human rights protection. Piet Hein van Kempen is Professor of Law and holds the Chair of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure (Department of Criminal Law) as well as the Chair of Human Rights Law (Department of International and European Law), Radboud University Nijmegen, The Netherlands. He is also a part time Justice in the Court of Appeal, ’s-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands. Van Kempen is furthermore Secretary-General of the International Penal and Penitentiary Foundation (IPPF). Apart from international and European human rights law he specializes in criminal law and criminal procedure law, and in criminal law developments in the European Union.
