Geert Lap Specific Objects

The ceramic work by Dutch designer and artist Geert Lap (1951-2017) can be considered evidence of his ongoing quest for the perfect symbiosis between form, colour and material. As a designer, he worked in the tradition of modernism, which opposes ornamentation and historical references. Lap preferred to see his designs amid the minimalist works of artists such as Carl Andre, Donald Judd and André Volten. Geert Lap: Specific Objects, with photographs by Erik and Petra Hesmerg, is a delightful overview of the fabulous oeuvre of one of the most important post-war ceramic artists in the world. His work is included in many (inter)national museum collections such as those of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and the Dutch museums Boijmans Van Beuningen, Keramiekmuseum Princessehof and Design Museum Den Bosch, as well as in many private collections such as those of Bruno Bischofberger, Benno Premsela and Ellsworth Kelly.
