A E I OU Articles, Essays, Interviews and Out-takes. De titel van dit boek zegt iets over het karakter van Tony Bretton's gebundelde teksten. Als een architect zei hij: 'Words, the most collective form of communication, thread their way through the projects, in explanations to clients and constructors, and as my means, along with drawings, of explaining the projects to my collaborators, to myself and to the wider world.'Als Professor Architectural Design-Interiors aan de TU Delft schreef hij: 'Interior design accommodates peoples physical and emotional comfort and rituals of use directly in the material of buildings, and offers freedom, directness and social meaning to Architecture'. Het zijn deze twee vakgebieden van waaruit Tony Fretton een reeks artikelen schreef over vakgenoten/verwante architecten en essays over historische gebeurtenissen in de architectuur. In een reeks interviews met Fretton wordt de ontwikkeling van zijn bureau en bureaufilosofie besproken; de out-takes bestaan uit een selectie citaten en fragmenten uit nog niet eerder gepubliceerde teksten.
